Mon. If you are reading Chasing Lincoln's Killer, then read chapter 11 tonight and answer the questions that go along with the reading. If you are reading Lincoln's Grave Robbers, you should read chapters 15-16 and answer the questions. (Be sure to complete part A of unit 18 vocabulary in class.)

Tues. If you are reading Chasing Lincoln's Killer, then read chapter 12 through the Epilogue tonight and answer the questions that go along with the reading. If you are reading Lincoln's Grave Robbers, you should read chapters 17 through the Epilogue and answer the questions. (Be sure to complete parts B and C of unit 18 vocabulary in class.)

Mon. Complete the two English preposition worksheets.

Tues. Complete the two English preposition worksheets, study your prepositions for your quiz, and decide on a topic for your persuasive essay.
Wed. Study for the preposition test that will be on Thursday. Also, start researching ideas for your persuasive essay. Read online articles about your topic.
Thurs. Fill out the pre-writing sheet for your persuasive essay. Take more notes. If you have time, start working on your outline. Once finished with your outline, come up with a strong thesis statement.
Fri. Make an outline for your essay. Be sure to have a thesis.

Week of March 12-16

Mon. Complete the irony worksheet. Read AR. If you did not take the quiz over "The Stone Boy" today, review for your quiz tomorrow.
Tues. Complete the English worksheet over prepositions. Read "The White Circle" and answer the questions.

Tues. Read "The Third Wish" starting on p. 311 with the author information and background to the story. Then complete the double-sided worksheet.
Wed. Using exercise 3 of combining sentences, choose 3 from #2 through #8 to complete. You are to combine the three sentences, varying the beginnings of each sentence. Read "Amigo Brothers" on page 321 and complete the double-sided worksheet.
Thurs. Study for the vocabulary and spelling quizzes for unit 13. Read "Ribbons" starting on p. 346 and complete the worksheet. Write the 8 sentences for English.

Week of Feb. 12-16

Mon. If you did not give your speech today, continue to practice it. Be sure your graphic novel strip is prepared. Read AR.

Wed. Read "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" starting on page 207. Then complete the 2-sided worksheet about the story and what we read in class.

Thurs. Read "Seventh Grade," starting on page 290. Answer the Critical Thinking questions #1-4 all parts except for the Big Question.

Fri. Read AR. Have a good weekend.

Week of Feb. 5-9

Mon. Continue to edit and improve your research paper. Google Classroom has a copy of the grading rubric for you to peruse and use to check your work. Making a copy of the Sentence Opening Sheet, pasting it to a Google doc., and filling it out can help you with improving your paper.

Tues. Your research paper is due today by the end of class. Besides electronically submitting your paper, you must turn in a printed copy.
Wed. Work on your visual aid for your presentation (speech). Using the template provided, you are to create a comic strip that helps explain your topic. The comic strip is not to explain everything. Your speech should give the bulk of the information.
Thurs. Continue working on your comic strip and speech cards.
Fri. Complete your speech cards for your presentation. Practice your speech at least ten times over the weekend so that you will be prepared and more at ease when giving your speech.

Week of Jan. 29-Feb. 2

Mon. Complete the outline for the research paper. See Google Classroom for detailed explanations and handouts.

Tues. Begin writing the research paper.
Wed. Continue writing the research paper.
Thurs. Complete the writing of the first draft of the research paper.

Mon. Go to Google Classroom for helpful instructions and to complete the assignment. Students are to write two source cards and ten note cards for their research project.

Tues. Go to Google Classroom to complete the assignment. Complete one source card and fifteen new note cards.
Wed. Go to Google Classroom to complete the assignment. Complete twenty note cards. These should all be new cards.
Thurs. Go to Google Classroom to complete the assignment. Complete twenty-five new note cards.
Fri. Go to Google Classroom to complete the assignment. Finish taking notes; organize your notes, and write your outline.

Week of Jan. 15-19

Mon. No school
Tues. Complete pp 59-79 of Drowned City. You will have a quiz over the material on Wed.
Wed. Complete pp. 80-91 of Drowned City. You will have a quiz over the material on Thurs.
Thurs. Study for the test over Drowned City. Review your questions; go over your vocabulary. Be sure to fill out the study guide that you will receive in class.
Fri. Read over your research materials so that you will have an overview of your topic and will know important aspects of your topic. You will need your research books in class on Mon., Jan. 22.

Week of Jan. 8-12

Mon. Snow Day

Tues. Complete the comic strip by identifying the parts. Define the vocabulary for pp. 1-21 of Drowned City.
Wed. Study for unit 12 vocabulary and spelling quizzes. On Classroom, you will find a Spelling City website to help you study. If you didn't finish your questions for pp. 1-21 of Drowned City in class, then you need to stay after school or come in early tomorrow morning. We will have a quiz over the reading tomorrow. Be sure to review your questions and answers and look over the book again in class tomorrow before the quiz.
Thurs. Complete all questions for pp. 22-41. Start defining vocabulary for pp. 42-58. We will have a quiz on pp. 22-41 on Friday.

Wed. Complete English worksheet p. 381. Complete steps 9, 10, 11, and 12 of the hero's journey story.

Thurs. Complete the sentence opening sheet for your story. Go back and improve your story. Complete English worksheet p. 79-80.

Fri. Your story is due today by the end of class. Print a copy and turn in and submit electronically. Read AR.

Week of Nov. 6-10

Mon. Start to study for unit 8 voscabulary and spelling quizzes. Think about your fairy tale. Who is your hero? What is the problem? What is the ordinary world versus the special world? Look over the hero's journey graphic organizer and consider what will occur in your story. Continue to read AR.

ALSO, read chapters 11,12, and 13 of Freak the Mighty. Answer the questions and define the vocabulary.
